  10.          The target area for Surveyor A is a circle 62 miles in  
  11. diameter in Oceanus Procellarium.  The center of the circle is  
  12. 3 degrees South latitude, 44 degrees West longitude.  The area  
  13. is a potential landing site for Apollo. 
  14.          The target circle includes Flamsteed Crater, 12 miles  
  15. in diameter, one mile deep and with a rim rising about 1,800  
  16. feet above the lunar surface.  Two lesser craters, known as  
  17. Flamsteed D and Flamsteed E lie three miles northeast, respect- 
  18. ively, of big Flamsteed.  Otherwise, the terrain is relatively  
  19. flat. 
  20.          The Soviet Union's Luna 9 landed in the Oceanus Pro- 
  21. cellarium, also known as the Sea of Storms, about 600 miles  
  22. northwest of Surveyor's target area.
